Mãos à Rua ("Hands to the Street") is a community volunteering movement for urban cleanliness — neighbourhood brigades that care for public space, hand in hand. It is always free, and it complements the work of professional street-cleaning teams; it never replaces them.

Pick a day, a time and a place and mark a clean-up. Other volunteers can join you, and the coordination helps arrange the bag pick-up.
Our principles
- Free for everyone. Taking part never costs anything; the brigade kit is a thank-you to those who contribute.
- Complements, never replaces. Volunteering adds to the work of professional teams — it is never an excuse to cut public services.
